What to expect at your routine Comprehensive Oral examination at Dental@Melton?
Regular dental exams involve a visual examination of each tooth’s surface to spot new decay and evaluate any teeth that may have previously undergone restorations. The soft tissue lining inside of your mouth is then thoroughly examined using a visual and finger check to look for any changes. Any alterations could signal the presence of a benign, precancerous, or cancerous illness that might call for prompt medical intervention. X-rays could be required to examine your teeth’s lateral surfaces, the region under your gums, and other hard-to-see places. Typically, X-rays are taken on a set schedule rather than at each visit.
A thorough cleaning of your teeth and gums will be performed to remove plaque build-up, tartar, and stains.
A regular six-monthly dental examination and cleaning helps prevent periodontal (gum) disease, which if left untreated, can lead to serious dental issues, including the loss of teeth.
What we offer at Dental@Melton for our new patients near Rockbank:
- A comprehensive oral examination. During the examination we will discuss your oral hygiene habits, your concerns about your oral health, teeth alignment, the aesthetics of your smile and create a customised treatment plan to address these issues.
- A full mouth OPG x-ray which aids in visualising your teeth and the jaws to diagnose any underlying problems that would not be visible with the naked eye (for most of our patients, this X-ray needs to be done only once in 3-5 years)
- A set of bitewings, intra oral x-rays that pick up on any cavities or bone loss happening between the teeth. (for most of our patients, these x-rays are repeated every 2 years.
- Intra oral photos of healthy or diseases teeth/tissues taken for education purposes and discussed with you on the day. These photos are precious sources of information when monitoring the health of your oral cavity over a period and can be great indicators of the progression or resolution of any disease of the oral cavity.
- A comprehensive but gentle cleaning of your teeth to remove the plaque and tartar deposits leaving your teeth looking and feeling clean and fresh!
- Topical application of a strengthening fluoride gel which will make teeth more resistant to getting decay.
At the culmination of your new patient examination, we will offer tailored dental advice to you and suggest an appropriate follow up appointment.
