Fillings:
Dental fillings are used to restore teeth that are cracked, chipped, or decaying. They are created using materials that can “fill” in missing or damaged tooth enamel before being hardened.
The tooth is cleaned, dried, and then filled with a filling substance once any decay has been removed.
A few examples of the filling materials available are:
- Composite resin fillings, commonly referred to as “tooth-coloured” fillings.
- Dental amalgam made of glass-ionomer cement, sometimes referred to as “silver fillings,” is an uncommon material.
- Porcelain fillings which are made in a laboratory to fit your tooth.
